Migrating data securely is one of the most difficult tasks when working with SQL Server or other database systems. Dealing with very large datasets with different formats and separators is one of the main issues that cause data incompatibility, resulting in difficult transfers from one database server to another. SQL DataTool was created to address such issues and make data importing in SQL Server much easier.
Working with SQL DataTool is not difficult but you must go through the configuration first to connect to the local server database. Here, you must select the desired database server and the database to connect to. If no database is ready to be used, you can also create one with a few clicks. Server authentication is also available, and so are connections to network servers.
Once connected to the desired database, you can proceed to adding new records to the database. SQL DataTool takes into account that outside data might be delivered in different formats, such as spreadsheets, Access databases or plain text files, and provides support for all of these formats. In other words, you can easily import data sets from Excel, Access or text files. Moreover, the application enables you to select a target folder and let it scan for compatible data files on its own.
Aside from importing data, SQL DataTool also enables you to fill in tables manually. You just have to select the database system, the version, and create a new table, all without a lot of hassle. The application displays an ediable table on screen, allowing you to fill in all the fields manually. The resulting database in SQL Server can be exported locally to a predefined folder.
Microsoft’s SQL Server comes with a set of tools that are meant to help administrators work fast and easy, even with large data sets. Even so, handling large data sets might be difficult, which makes data importing to fail sometimes. SQL DataTool comes to the rescue in this case, providing a quick and convenient way to import data in various formats to a SQL Server database, overcoming incompatibility issues given by different separators or formats.
