The need for establishing better connectivity across a network, for modern multimedia devices, has produced the necessity for specialized software. This led to the creation of various standards, such as the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), as well as the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), which have facilitated network connectivity for various devices. The first allows easy discoverability, as well as network data sharing, video streaming, or gaming. The latter, enables sharing of digital content, such as images, music, or video, from and to mobile devices.

Tiny DLNA Server is an application that was constructed in order to address such specific requirements, and it will provide users with a tool for establishing and running a multimedia server on their PCs.

The application’s main functionality relies on the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, and it involves the creation of a server for local access over any LAN or Wi-Fi network. In turn, this facilitates the constant check-up for the state of the network connection, and in case of accidental connectivity loss, this will not affect the server.

Last but not least, as long as there is an active local network connection, the server will be maintained online and running.
