Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Group Chat

Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Group Chat is the server component of the Group Chat service and was designed to help users create persistent topic-based chat rooms and let clients connect to it. This allows geographically-distributed teams to collaborate with one another in a more efficient manner while also preserving the knowledge. This application is an extension of the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 infrastructure.

It is possible to install the server component on a single computer or multiple ones, depending on the topology. If the organization that uses this service requires compliance support, it is also possible to deploy a Compliance service on a different computer after installing and configuring machines that are running Group Chat Server.

Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Group Chat runs from a virtual server that provides support for up to 30,000 users, but only if the virtual server matches the specifications of the physical one. Each of the topologies require a server with Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Group Chat and one with Microsoft SQL Server database installed.

Deploying this utility to the target computer can be done by launching the installer, which comes with a wizard that guides the entire process step by step.
