TFS Project

TFS Project is a tool designed to list all projects and users in a given TFS instance. The list of users can be provided by group for each project or a predetermined project on the Team Foundation Server instance.

To get started, users need to input the standard information such as the server address, port, path, version and collection. On a side note, the common port used for connecting to a TF server is 8080; then again, if this does not work, then it may mean that it is customized and hence, users need to inquire about it with the administrator.

As previously mentioned, the tool is designed to work with most TFS versions, including the older ones. While for versions 2008 and later, the lists are generated via the API, for older versions users may need to use a Perl script that needs a Perl interpreter to run, such as ActiveState Perl, for instance.

According to the developer, administrators can also install Perl directly to the server, but that would entail exposing it to potential vulnerabilities. To avoid this, Perl can be run from a UNC path that executes permissions for the ID used when running the script. The permissions can be given from the Perl directory or via the command \computerName\Perl\bin\perl.exe.
