User Property Field

User Property Field is a SharePoint component designed to help you handle forms in an easier way, what with its ability to import all sorts of info on the current user automatically. As such, it can migrate data such as name, phone number, and more either from Active Directory or SharePoint user profiles. Note that if you opt for the latter, only support for SharePoint Server and MOSS is provided.

Another aspect that should be taken into account is related to the fact that managers have complete control over the fields that are imported. To be more specific, they have the possibility of building templates that entail field tokens, punctuation, and arbitrary text, and in case they deem that necessary, they can allow the user to make modifications to this data.

Endless possibilities are offered in this regard, which translates to the option to combine various properties and labels so that the resulting template caters to your needs.

As for how the current user is identified so that the required data is collected, you can rest assured that the entire process is automatic. Nevertheless, the SharePoint component can also look up data on any other user provided that you ask it to do so.
