BlankUp is an Electron-based application that makes it possible for you to convert text to HTML quickly from within its distraction-free interface.

Since the app is wrapped using Electron, you can run it just as efficiently on all the main operating system out there, namely Windows, Mac and Linux.

Getting started with this application is by no means difficult, as you only need to launch its streamlined installer that takes care of the whole process without your intervention.

Right off the bat, it becomes quite evident that BlankUp was designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind, more than anything else.

This translates into a very barren tabbed interface, with literally nothing more than a typical menu bar on it, and a non-impressive set of features.

Besides the fact that it enables you to work on multiple projects at the same time, the only noteworthy feature is the app's live preview, readily available from the View menu or via keyboard shortcuts, that when turned on splits the main window into two parts.

It is quite a shame that the app does not provide you with anything more in terms of features. This said, you cannot export your work to other, more widely-usable formats as there are no options for that. It would have also been quite useful if the app would assist you when you write by highlighting the syntax.

Taking everything into consideration, BlankUp is clearly not the best Markdown editor out there. With its basic set of features and minimal look, it might appeal to inexperienced web writers that simply need to convert text to HTML and nothing else.
