Before the application is capable of running, you need to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on your computer, even though it’s usually a part of the default feature set for modern Windows iterations. On the other hand, there’s no setup involved to make the application work, so you can carry it and your projects around on a thumb drive.

Editing with DioPad is a straightforward operation from multiple points of view. On the one hand, the visual design provides little support in the sense that there’s no character, or at least word counter, not to mention line numbering on the side. On the other hand, all writing needs to be done on the spot, and from scratch because there are no import options, but you can paste existing code here.

Every time the application runs the default template shows up with preset open and closed codes for head and body, as well as the entire document. Unfortunately, you’re forced to export the code and save it to file through other means, since there is no built-in save function, delivering a major blow to overall practicality.

No syntax highlighter is there to help easily identify code elements. There is, however, a built-in preview function which brings up the corresponding outcome in a different window, but with still no option to save.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that DioPad is heavily underprepared even as a plain text editor, let alone a fully-fledged HTML editor. The overall design is simple and intuitive, but without any possibility to work on existing projects or even save new ones, there’s little you can do to benefit from what it has to offer.
