Easily edit HTML source code in an intuitive, customizable environment fitted with most of the tools you need, like syntax highlighter, or find and replace #Edit HTML code #HTML code editor #Write HTML code #Edit #Editor #Write
Source code editing can be done in a plain text editor, but you don’t get to benefit from functions like a syntax highlighter, and maybe not even a replace function. However, there are tons of specialized editors like JHTML which serve as an intuitive development environment for projects of different kinds.
First of all, the application can run right after download is done, because it skips you the time and effort otherwise needed to get it installed. This means it can be used on the go, directly from a thumb drive, without affecting the stability of the target PC. However, you need to make sure Java Runtime Environment is installed on the computer you use it on.
You start off in a blank workspace, but opening a project is not rocket science. File support is impressive, and you’re able to work on file formats like HTML, HTM, SHTML, SHTM, STM, CSS, JS, or plain TXT. This applies to both import and export options so you can save back to the original format.
Syntax highlighter is a built-in component, letting you easily identify functions, classes, and other variables you’re working with. Unfortunately, there’s no line numbering on the side, but the status bar does show the row, and column you’re on.
Code writing doesn’t benefit from any options to easily insert preset functions, or snippets. On the other hand, general edit options make it easy to undo or redo operations, copy and paste, multiple selection, change casing of selected text, or look for a specific text string in order to have it replaced.
The application allows you to work on multiple projects at a time, and you can keep them active either under different tabs, or windows. Several related customization options can be changed to make the whole experience more comfortable, or simply to change the visual style.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that JHTML comes with good intentions, letting you edit source code for a decent variety of source files with little effort. Sadly, the set of features it comes with is rather poor, and even in its simplicity, there’s no line numbering on the side, or a browse menu to quickly insert functions, or snippets.
