Neo Replace

Some domains of activity require working with standard text forms on a daily basis, and chances are most operations include replacing specific text strings without creating the document from scratch. In this regard, Neo Replace comes with a set of tools with which to find your input inside text files and replace it with something different.

A first good thing about it is that it skips you the effort required to go through a setup process, but you do need to make sure that .NET Framework is already on your PC before you can take advantage of all it has to offer.

The main window is pretty well organized, with most of the space representing two columns, one for target strings, while the other for new strings. Sadly, loading files isn’t allowed through a drag and drop operation, which leaves you with two options. You can either browse to the location of a single file, or load an entire directory for its content.

Files are not shown inside the application, nor content. This means you either know what’s inside, or the text you want to replace, or keep a copy opened for instant analysis. Just so you don’t lose original files, the application can automatically create backups of custom extensions in a location of your choice.

The process itself is configured pretty fast, unless there are many strings you wish to change. Simply filling in target and new string fields is enough to configure parameters, while hitting the “replace” button processes target files. Output is shown in a log window which can also be saved to file for later inspection.

All things considered, we can state that Neo Replace is a handy tool for replacing outdated strings with new ones inside TXT, HTML, PHP, and XML files. Multiple files can be processed at the same time, while setting up operation parameters only takes a little while.
