Colors

Among other things, preparing for webdesign and other graphical projects means setting your mind on a color palette that you would like to implement into your designs, whether it's what you want or what the client wishes.

If you prefer simple and straightforward applications to help along the way, don't miss out on Colors. It's a Windows utility made to create multiple profiles with various color palettes that can be saved to file and recalled whenever you need to get hold of the color codes and add them to your projects.

Installing the program isn't necessary since you can unzip the downloaded archive and double-click the .exe to reach the main window right away. Several color palettes are available in the archive to give you a clue of how it works, featuring the Windows 7 default system theme, among others.

Colors can be obtained by entering their RGB, HTML, Delphi hex or Delphi int codes. Otherwise, you can explore some predefined colors in a menu, pick the ones that look like with what you have in mind, and make tweaks to the codes to generate the exact color you're looking for.

Palettes (profiles) can have any number of colors. You can preview the color in the main window (including white and black text over it), allow duplicates when adding new colors to the profile, remove any entries if you change your mind, as well as replace selected colors with something else. All settings can be saved to file.

The application has just been released and it hasn't reached a stable phase yet, which means it's possible that you might experience stability issues. However, we haven't encountered this sort of problems. If we had one wish, though, it would be for Colors to implement a color picker. Other than that, it's practical and incredibly easy to use.
