Snapchat has no doubt had a noticeable impact in the widespread use of face filters, particularly the goofier ones that modify your face to something else entirely. There’s a time and place for everything, but surprising your videoconferencing buddies can nevertheless make for a nice gag.

FIlterOnMe aims to provide users with all manner of facial filters, and aside from a series of “fun looks” that can immediately draw attention to your webcam, a variety of sliders that enable you to minimize or exaggerate your facial features also exists.

The software should prove to be a nice party trick of sorts. While you can have your fun by modifying the features and complexion of your face, I would argue that any modification is too evident to be taken seriously. Of course, if you want to get serious and modify your looks for a better presentation on camera, then no one’s stopping you.

A problem that can occur with these filters, especially when used seriously — excuse the lack of a better term — is that once you tilt your head just a little bit, they stop functioning as they should. It can make for a good joke, though.

As stated previously, there are quite a few options to look into. You can apply skin smoothing and foundation filters, as well as shape-altering adjustments for your face. Face thinning, nose width, jawline size, the works. Virtual eyelashes and eyeliners can also be added.

Appropriately, fun and beauty looks are in the “Fun” section. Some are more exaggerated than others, and what appeals to me may not appeal to you, so feel free to go through each of them and see what you like best.

FilterOnMe is a fun app for sure, especially when used at the right time. However, I wouldn’t necessarily classify the face filters and adjustments on here accurate or lifelike, so I would refrain from using them in a serious environment. The watermark that appears while using the filters in the Free version is also rather intrusive.
