Regardless of the type and usage of a file, it contains a set of values by which it can be identified. The same goes for songs, containing more that just the necessary means to provide audio feedback. Each song is equipped with tags that holds info regarding artist, album and even technical details. In this regard, WinVorbis gives you the possibility to edit tags of several types of audio files.

The application holds all of its features in a compact interface that doesn't pose any accommodation problems whatsoever. Tabs you can edit are clearly visible, with the possibility to add up to six custom values.

Sadly, the application only supports WAV, RAW, AIF and OGG files. Although these types of files provide more sound fidelity and are patent-free, a great deal of practicality is cut out because of the lack of support for at least MP3 files.

Importing only takes a little while and is easily done. You can drag files over the main window, or use the integrated browser to pick multiple files or add contents of an entire folder. Another missing feature is a list that displays all imported files and makes it a little difficult if your music collection is abundant. The only navigation method is by going back and forth through items.

The level of details you can modify is average. Only general info is up for editing, with default fields like title, artist, album, date, genre and track number being at your disposal. On the other hand, the application gives you the possibility to add custom tags, which consist of a title and value you want to attribute.

This comes in handy for modifying more files at once. In this regard, there are a few more tools to help out with batch processing. As such, you can have default fields automatically filled in for all imported files at the press of a button. The principle is that the application scans the file name to determine values. Accessing the options menu lets you configure the way this works, as well as several encoding details to adjust output quality.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that WinVorbis is far from being a pro of its kind, with only a few fields provided, although you can add custom ones. Moreover, the amount of supported file formats leaves a little something to be desired, because the overall process is easily done, and would have been useful to see more file types. However, for general details, it comes in handy because of the possibility to process more files at once.
