Converts any audio or video file to the audio format of your choice, giving you control over quality and parameters such as bitrate, sampling rate and channel mode. #Audio Converter #MP3 Converter #Convert Audio #Encoder #Converter #Encode
Audio files come in many shapes and sizes… Well, mostly sizes, unless you really like looking at waveforms. But more than often an audio file size has to do with its quality or, more specifically the way that the file was encoded.
For example, all music producers will export their songs as WAV files, which is the ultimate lossless quality, but takes up a lot of storage space. If you’re a professional DJ, you don’t want to use anything else for your sets, but if you’re a casual listener and just want to cram as many songs on your phone as possible, you’re just as good with MP3s. It’s not like you’re gonna know the difference on your headphones.
But then there’s the FLAC format, which offers lossless quality for a smaller file size, while the M4A format is needed by most iTunes users. So if you would need to convert audio files from one format to another, you could do it with a program such as Kabuu Audio Converter.
In the app’s intuitive user interface, you add or drag & drop the files for which you need to convert. Most audio file formats are supported, but you can also export audio from video files like MP4, MKV, AVI or WEBM.
The best thing about the Kabuu Audio Converter is the number of presets it makes available. For conversion to MP3 you can select the exact quality, bitrate, sampling rate and channel mode, while for a conversion to FLAC you can select the file compression level and the bit depth. For a free software, that’s definitely a lot of encoding power.
After you add the files to Kabuu Audio Converter’s interface, you can even play them to make sure you know what you’re converting. The software even has a volume slider for that very purpose. You can then quickly access the new files by clicking the very useful Output Folder button. And don’t worry about the original files, because the converter won’t modify them in any way.
If I were nitpicking, I could complain that, even though it supports a lot of input formats, you won’t be able to export the files in lesser used formats like AIFF and AAC (like you would ever want to do that, anyway).
Also, note the program will suggest an update as soon as you install it (or whenever you open it), but will then prompt you to download the version that you have already installed. To get rid of this message, you could uncheck the “Check program updates at program start” from the Settings.
