Compact application that will help users to easily convert their MIDI files to other audio formats like MP3, WAV or OGG. For users who require an efficient solution for converting MIDI files, MID Converter comes with a kit of basic features that will offer a quick and efficient workflow, but will miss key aspects like support for more formats or extended MIDI device settings.

Featuring a somewhat basic interface, MID Converter provides users with a file viewer where they can navigate to the folder where the MIDI files are located, but does not support drag-and-dropping. Unfortunately, it also does not allow individual / multiple selection of MIDI files, unless they are contained in the same folder, fact that will disturb users with a complicated tree structure on their PC and MIDI files in multiple folders. The built-in player is very limited, with just the basic playback controls and doesn’t provide users with a much needed graphical view of the playback progress, offering instead just a numeric counter.

MID Converter allows users to quickly convert MIDI files to MIDI0 / MIDI1 or RIFF MIDI Format 1 / RIFF MIDI Format 0 just by pressing the dedicated buttons from the main interface. However, if users choose the other supported audio formats, they need to run through a separate batch recording window, even if there is only a single file to be converted. When multiple files are selected for batch conversion, the application does not offer track information customization for each individual file, and users who choose multiple files with different metadata will not be satisfied with this limitation.

The application offers conversion to just a handful of audio formats – MP3, WAV, OGG, that will not be sufficient for advanced users, whowill surely demand support for additional formats. On the bright side of things, MID Converter’s ability to convert fragments of files, from user-defined start and end positions will be appreciated by many, as it represent a very useful feature.

Starting with the file handling restrictions and ending with the batch conversion metadata customization issues, MID Converter will not impress users through its functionality, or its very simplistic interface, device settings and basic audio player. For users that need a quick, not too fancy solution for converting MIDI files, this could be a fair choice, nevertheless advanced users will want to seek other similar software packages.
