Slow down or speed up an MP3 or WAV audio file by creating different tempo sections, with options to loop, or apply pre-delay, and even comments #Wave panel #Modify tempo #Tempo modifier #MP3 #WMA #Tempo
Music can easily be composed on a computer equipped with the right software components. However, editing is also possible on an existing audio file, just in case you want to add a few extra effects. For instance, specialized applications like Fretway Decomposer comes with the means to change tempo, without having an impact on pitch level.
On the visual side of things, the application sports a clean layout, letting individuals of all levels of experience get the hang of things. The startup tab leaves only one option available, which is to load the audio file you want to process. Doing this enables all the other options, and you can pick audio files under formats like MP3, or WAV.
With the file loaded, the waveform appears in the center area. The project is started in a separate tab, which means you’re able to process multiple files at a time. Unfortunately, you’re not able to perform any edit operations such as cutting, or at least copying parts between projects.
The waveform preview area is where most controls are handled. Playback can be initiated at a normal pace, and there are also some controls to zoom out or in on the waveform for better inspection.
Tempo is adjusted through fragments. These are easily created through drag and drop, and are visible in a dedicated list in a side panel. This enables you to change temp by choosing a value from a drop-down menu, with an additional pre-delay effect with up to 30 seconds. Moreover, you can loop the entire section for better feedback and analysis.
Unfortunately, all changes stay within the application, and there’s no possibility to save changes to file, not even a separate one. This makes all changes only for one-time use, although the application gives you the possibility to revisit recent projects.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Fretway Decomposer can help change the tempo of any WAV or MP3 file, without affecting quality at noticeable levels, or changing the pitch. The only downside to the whole operation is the lack of an export option.
