Leapic Audio Cutter

Working with audio files requires you to install several tools with which to modify or cut out pieces you need for various projects. Leapic Audio Cutter is one such application with the name speaking for itself. It's a lightweight utility that lets you split sound files.

Importing an audio file is only done through the main window of the application, with no support to simply drag the desired item over your workspace. Once the file is loaded, you need to set a start and end point on a slider, with selection and overall time displayed for more precision.

You can skip through the audio file by 0.5 or 2 seconds to get the slider just right. Before putting the process in motion you are able to set the output format, which can be MP3, WMA, OGG and WAV, as well as several quality settings with some presets to choose from.

One of the biggest disappointments is that only one selection can be made per song, which limits the possibility to split large files into volumes. Unfortunately, you are only asked for a destination folder once you hit the “Cut” button, with no possibility to set a default one.

Moreover, time is only displayed for start and end points with no possibility to carefully cut by manually entering the exact minutes or seconds.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Leapic Audio Cutter is a handy, straightforward utility if you quickly need to cut an audio file. The interface is easy enough to use and poses no problems in accommodation. You can change the output format in case the original file is not suitable for your project.
