Practice mixing music to become a popular DJ by combining multiple songs in two decks, and working with various effects, and a 5-band equalizer #Audio mixer #Mix tracks #Music mixer #Mixer #Mix #Music
Heavy machines, and large devices can now be replaced by computers fitted with the right software components. Music makes no exception here, and entire DJ deks can now fit in a few MB. For instance, Light Audio Mixer allows you to practice your music mixing skills, get better, and make the crowd go wild.
The application’s general visual structure allows you to customize the way it sits on your desktop, for more flexibility. In other words, both decks, as well as corresponding effects, and tools are stored in floating windows you can move around. However, they’re all tied to a central panel, making it easier to move the entire structure.
To start off, you need to create your playlist, and this can be done by either loading individual songs, or the content of an entire folder. You can save the list for later use, filter it according to name, path, or tags, and assign songs to specific decks. However, you can also import songs directly in decks, but this can take a bit more time.
Each deck is fitted with corresponding playback controls, a tempo slider, progress slider, as well as a vinyl to scratch for cool effects. Sadly, you can only move the vinyl backwards, and moving the progress slider doesn’t provide feedback in real time.
There’s a 5-band equalizer for each deck. There are no preset values, so you need to know what each frequency does. Changes are only kept for the duration of the session, with no option to save presets. Apart from the equalizer, you can also enhance sound with different effects like chorus, compressor, distortion, echo, flanger, gargle, or reverb.
You’re only able to clearly play one of the two decks at a time. The central panel is where you easily bake the switch through sliders, with an additional option to apply a cool fader when switching.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Light Audio Mixer can help you improve your DJ skills, but it’s best used only for practice. With no hotkey support, and somewhat delayed response to interaction, it can have an impact on quality in live performances. On the bright side, it’s fitted with a decent variety of effects, and controls.
