The introduction of tube-style amplifiers in the musical world has meant that musicians could induce a “warmer” tone to their sound outputs, as many bass players consider that using such amplifiers yields more natural sounds, especially when compared to natural state amplifiers. Tube amplifiers, when lightly or moderately driven, are known to have more pleasing distortion characteristics.

ToneLib TubeWarmth is a dedicated plugin that was designed specifically in order to enable users to induce the aforementioned tube amplifier sound characteristics to their audio processing, in order to achieve a rougher, more vivid output, when starting from a “drier” digital signal.

The main working principle behind the plugin involves the introduction of even-numbered harmonics to the input signal, which contribute to the expansion of the instrument’s tone, yielding new color and depth, revealing new sound edges, and emphasizing the textures of the tones. In plain words, the aim of ToneLib TubeWarmth is to allow one to bring the cold and crisp digital sound to a much warmer, pleasant form, such as that characteristic of tube amps.

Last but not least, the overall effect of the plugin can be divided into two sub-components: a light, warm overdrive of the input signal, and extra addition of harmonics to the input signal.
