While Windows’ built-in media players may suffice for anyone who is simply seeking to quickly play sound files, music enthusiasts may want a more comprehensive program that prioritizes customization and convenience in order to fully enjoy their audio collections.
If you are a fan of music-streaming giant Spotify’s clean and straightforward interface, and you are looking for a similar program able to handle your local library instead of a cloud-synced one, then look no further than the Audirvana Origin audio player, focused on power user features to ensure a high quality listening experience.
Current or former Spotify users will feel right at home when navigating the menus of this program. The left sidebar is equipped with a search function, a drop-down list of favorite albums, artists and tracks, along with user-generated playlists. Underneath sits the Library menu, with categories ranging from music albums, artists and files to Recently Added tracks, Hi-Res, MQA, DSD and CD formats.
The right side contains a toolbar with functions such as forward, backward, list or thumbnail view, with a zoom slider and dedicated editors for sorting criteria, filters, playlists and metadata. The album view provides the user with a comprehensive layout, listing the album name, artwork, artist name, total number of tracks and total duration of all tracks combined. Tracks are displayed in a list format, sorted by their title, artist, duration, bitdepth and sample rate.
Currently playing songs are shown in the bottom horizontal panel, which also allows the user to toggle the waveform display on the sound seek bar, view recently played files, shuffle or display the play queue, switch to a mini player mode with simplified or advanced details view, adjust the volume and choose between the available playback devices.
For extra customization options, users also have access to a powerful metadata editor for changing the title, composer, genre, year and rating of both albums and tracks. In the extensive Settings section, advanced functions can be tweaked, ranging from loading decoding, signal processing, upsampling, volume leveling, database integrity checking, index rebuilding, light or dark themes and interface language.
One of the program’s greatest strengths is its ability to directly interface with the chosen audio device during playback, in order to avoid quality loss that can occur when passing through the system’s sound mixer.
If you are in the market for a great way of organizing your sound files and ensuring lossless playback through an elegant and power-user-focused layout, then Audirvana Origin can be a great choice as your exclusive audio player for offline music collections.
