Nowadays, we have plenty of options when it comes to playing and listening to our favorite music. From Radio and TV to websites like YouTube, or streaming services like Spotify. But there often comes a time when you just want to play your own songs, the way you want to.
Simple Music Player was built with that in mind, to allow you to play music on your PC without any struggles by just dragging your audio files onto the player, or even a whole directory that contains your songs.
It may be a simple audio files player, as even its name suggests, but being simple can mean many good things as well. It is simple both in design and functionality, offering an uncomplicated user interface without any unnecessary features.
The buttons you will find in the interface are the usual ones that you see in any player, like Play, Stop, Next and Previous Song, but it also comes with Shuffle, Repeat, Equalizer and Media Library buttons, which add to its functionality.
When you play a song, you can see its album art on the left, which is a nice addition, but it is visible only if the file you are playing has this type of media.
An equalizer button was mentioned earlier, and I am sure that is something that can raise the interest of some people. The 10-band equalizer the program features allows you to set the pitch the way you prefer. The types of audio files it can play are MP3, OGG, WMA and WAV, which should be more than enough for most people, but it lacks support for the FLAC format.
It even has volume fade between songs, already set to five seconds per default, but it can only be changed through the settings file. The program is also built as portable, meaning you can move it from your computer to another without losing your settings.
You are also able to use hotkeys, but only when the application is in focus. Some of the shortcuts you can use are Space, to play or stop the music, or M, to mute the player. It would've been nice to be able to set your own hotkeys and maybe have the option to use them whether the player stays on top or not.
To summarize, Simple Music Player, or SimpleMP, is an easy to use music player, which lets you just drag and drop your files and start listening to your favorite songs.
