Melotic player

Melotic player bundles an audio and video player, a lyrics searcher and a tag editor within a single, stylish interface. You can use it to listen to music, watch movies and edit tag data, all with a single program.

Simple is the way to go when it comes to multimedia players and this application is no different. It displays a minimal GUI, comprising details concerning the currently playing song, artist and the album, along with basic playback controls to stop, pause, play the song, as well as volume adjustment options.

The audio player only provides support for MP3 files, which is quite a drawback, since there are similar programs that are compatible with most popular audio formats. The played songs are automatically added to the 'Playlist' section, but you can also add locally stored ones to create new playlists.

Melotic player comes with an integrated file browser that enables you to quickly find music files stored on your hard drive. The built-in tag editor provides basic metadata editing options, enabling you to change the artist name, the album, the song title and the release year for any MP3 file in your computer. Unfortunately, batch operations are not supported.

One interesting feature is the possibility to search for lyrics on the Internet, by using the dedicated 'Lyrics Finder' function. You can search for a song on Google, YouTube or Bing directly from the application and view the found results in your default web browser.

The video player offers basic functionality for watching movies. Its interface is just as intuitive, consisting of the progress bar, volume, playback speed and audio balance adjustment options.

Ease of use is one of the characteristics of Melotic player, but if you get stuck (although this is unlikely to happen), the audio instructions can help you figure out the next step. While it definitely needs some improvements, it offers users a decent multimedia player, worth trying.
