MiniSpotify

MiniSpotify is a lightweight utility that acts as a small viewer for Spotify. The idea behind the tool is to allow you to view the current playing video and manage it directly from the player so that you can continue focusing on the other things you are doing on your computer.

The utility is portable, so you can simply download and extract the archives to the preferred location to get started. Upon first launch, the app will ask for authorization to access Spotify and opens up a page with instructions on how to do so on Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge. It is worth mentioning that you need to log in your Spotify account and that the app solely works with the web version of the online library.

As far as the interface goes, it consists of a single, small window that can be placed in any location on the desktop, so feel free to place it where it does not interfere with your other activities. The app captures what you are currently playing in Spotify and mirrors it in the player.

You have some minimal controls via the app, namely add to favorite, play, stop, skip forward and backwards. Unfortunately, during our testing, we noticed that only the add to favorites button is working and we hope that the bugs are going to be addressed in the near future.

In the eventuality that you have a habit of listening to music while working, browsing the web or doing other things on your PC, but feel like using the web version of Spotify is disruptive, then perhaps you can consider giving MiniSpotify a try.
