Play your music locally, or stream it from YouTube or Spotify, and log all your listening sessions on Last.fm, all through this one versatile and intuitive music player. #Music Player #Spotify Player #YouTube Player #Music #Player #Spotify
These days, with the popularity of music streaming services, most users default to using the default player. Be it Spotify, Apple Music, or just streaming via YouTube, the days of playing your music locally through Winamp are long gone.
Still, if you want to listen to your local music library, you might be content with the built-in Groove Music app. In an effort to offer extended functionality, Moosync is an alternative app to keep an eye on: play the music on your system, or stream from YouTube or Spotify, directly from app, and much more.
With the influx of more minimalist interfaces, this one here doesn't stray far from the pack. The design is muted, and is faintly similar to Spotify's, making for a pleasant experience, where everything you need is within arm's reach. It keeps things simple, and not to the detriment of functionality: navigating to your library of songs, playlists, albums, artists, and genres can be done via the panel on the left side of the interface.
For the best experience, it's recommended that you also connect to the app to your YouTube and Spotify accounts. This allows it to fetch songs and recommendations from those platforms, and deliver them to you straight through its interface. Of course, if you also keep music locally, it's likewise recommended to specify the respective directories where you store your tunes.
The integration with Spotify and YouTube makes the Explore tab work the way it does: simply put, the app fetches the recommendations from the aforementioned platforms. You can also add songs through their YouTube/Spotify URLs via the Add from URL option.
Integration with the Last.fm service is available. Through it, users can more closely log their music and listening habits, with everything being displayed on their respective Last.fm profiles.
Moreover, extension support is a welcome addition to an already enticing software package. Developers can create their own apps via the Moosync API, and some extensions are already available: Discord Rich Presence, Plex, and Amby/Jellyfin integration was made possible this way.
Moosync makes for a well-rounded music player: not only can you listen to your local library through its sleek interface, but the integration with YouTube, Spotify, and Last.fm, as well as the custom extension support, greatly elevates its value.
