Nowadays, there is certainly no shortage of music players for audiophiles to choose from, but the plethora of options can make it difficult for users to find a simple, lightweight application that does the job without complicating matters unnecessarily.

NOW Player offers a solution, in the form of a minimalistic program that enables you to play music files saved to multiple common formats. However, it includes a very limited range of features, although it is possible to customize the player’s UI to a certain extent.

Once you have completed the quick installation procedure, you can launch the application and begin playing your music. In order to import a new file, you only need to drop it onto the main program window.

Of course, it is also possible to associate NOW Player with certain file extensions and open them with a couple of mouse clicks.

The application can play WAV, AIFF, MP3, MP2, MP1 and OGG files. However, several other popular formats are not supported, such as FLAC and M4A.

After adding a new file, you can pause and restart playback, as well as switch to the next or previous track located in the same directory. Naturally, the audio volume can also be altered, and you can choose to have the application repeat the current song.

Sadly, though, it is not possible to import multiple files at once and organize them into playlists or shuffle tracks, and the program does not provide you with a graphic equalizer.

The UI does not stand out in any way, but you can choose from a number of preset themes, as well as select your own color.

Unfortunately, the application cannot be sent to the system tray, a feature that no music player should lack.

Overall, NOW Player is a no-nonsense program that can help you play your music easily and effortlessly. However, it offers a very limited number of functions, so it is only really suitable for users who find the advanced features provided by more complex players to be unnecessary.
