Qsoft Media Player

Surely enough you can start playback sessions of both video and audio files with just what Windows puts at your disposal, but there are also plenty of alternatives in case default tools don’t tickle your fancy. For instance, Qsoft Media Player is a lightweight player which lets you enjoy a variety of multimedia formats.

Take note that your computer needs to be fitted with .NET Framework to enable functionality, and it’s also a mandatory requirement to be able to go through the setup process. An active Internet connection might also be required for the installer to grab necessary files.

A pretty clean window shows up on launch, with most of the space dedicated to the preview area. The bottom section holds most necessary playback controls, and these are pretty much borrowed from Windows Media Player. This isn’t necessarily an issue, because it makes it possible to quickly adapt to the interface.

On the upper part you find the browse dialogs, although dropping them over the window works just as well. The application can process quite the variety of video and audio formats, such as MP3, WMA, MPS, MP4, WMV, as well as playlists under the WPL format. Note, however, that loading audio files through the browse dialogs only makes it possible to pick a file at a time.

As mentioned, you’re also free to load playlist files. Unfortunately, the list of files itself doesn’t show up, and there aren’t even functions to shuffle the list. Sadly, this means that there’s little to no control over what the playlist holds, unless using other programs to modify it.

All things considered, we can state that Qsoft Media Player comes with good intentions, but is a little underprepared to satisfy on the long run. Accommodation is a walk in the park, while file support is decent. However, without a proper playlist manager, you’re easily tempted to look for alternatives.
