Soundux

Soundboards are widely used in live shows, music and online streaming as they provide a simple way to add background sounds to emphasize a specific event. For instance, they can come in handy for streamers as they could easily enhance their reaction to content via a sound with a click of a button.

Soundux is an open-source tool soundboard designed with simplicity in mind and that allows you to play any type of sound via a hotkey.

The application is available as both setup and portable, so it is up to you whether you want to install it on your system. The program comes with a minimalist interface and displays the local and remote volumes in the top section. You can easily sync the volumes of both local and remote audio outputs, depending on the effect played.

You can get started by adding tabs, a term used in the app for specific sounds. You can add an entire folder full of sounds via the tab and rename them accordingly. In case you need to play a sound as a quick reaction, then you can rely on the search function to quickly find what you are looking for. The audio can also be sorted ascending, descending and alphabetical, if this helps you find sounds faster.

It is worth mentioning that you can assign hotkeys for all sounds or for the current tab opened. From the Settings menu, you can disable all hotkeys assigned and set a key for push-to-talk.

The app does not include any editing features, so you need to find and edit the sounds yourself via other third-party programs. It does include a downloader that allows you to grab content from YouTube, but you need to install ffmpeg and youtube-dl for this function to work.

Soundux is an easy to use soundboard utility that may come in handy for anyone doing streams and that would like to spice up their content or reactions via various sounds.
