While it might seem like all music streaming services are identical at first glance – each charging a monthly fee and boasting millions of tracks – delving a bit deeper reveals unique features and offerings that set them apart from one another.

Unless you count YouTube, Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming service out there, with millions of users and a catalog of over 80 million tracks. The service is not just about music, as you can find a ton of audio content, including podcasts and other spoken-word materials.

Despite the popularity and quality, stopped the support for Windows XP in December 2022, so if you happen to have an older PC, you can’t anymore. SpotifyXP is a tiny Java-based tool designed to change that and allow you to enjoy the great content, even on machines running on Windows XP.

Following a quick and uneventful installation, you are prompted to add your credentials and log into your Spotify account. As expected, the GUI is completely different from the standard app, as it is basically adjusted to run smoothly on older hardware and Windows XP. The GUI consists of a single window with multiple tabs that enable you to navigate, listen and find audio content.

Similarly to its modern counterpart, you can preview the current track playing and can skip to the next/previous, pause, favorite or pause. You can adjust the volume, mute the mic, shuffle and replay. Essentially, the content is the same, but it comes packed in an old-school GUI that is just as easy to browse.
