aPlayer is a lightweight audio player that allows you to listen to your favorite songs and create playlists.

You can open the program by simply running the executable file (there’s no setup included in the process). Getting rid of it implies deleting the files that you have downloaded from the Internet. What’s more, you can store it on USB flash drives or other portable devices.

aPlayer sports a minimalistic panel from where you can quickly control the audio playback process. You are allowed to play, pause or stop the current audio selection, adjust the volume, go to the previous or next song in the playlist, and tweak an equalizer. You may also drag and drop songs directly on the small panel.

The application gives you the possibility to browse throughout the content of your computer via an Explorer-like panel and drag and drop items directly in the playlist window.

You can check out information about each audio file, such as artist, album, title, or length, copy the name of the song to the clipboard, open the file location where the current item is stored, perform searches throughout the entire playlist, and play the files directly in the playlist’s panel.

What’s more, aPlayer automatically scans the content of a user-defined folder and creates a list with the detected audio files.

You can normalize the volume, apply special effects like crossfade, reverb and low/high pass, connect to your Last.fm account, keep different playlists opened thanks to the multi-tabbed support, and sort files by artist, album or genre.

All things considered, aPlayer packs basic features for helping you listen to audio files, and is suitable especially for less experienced users. On the downside, it doesn’t allow you to export playlists to M3U file format, change the looks of the GUI with the aid of skins, access diverse radio stations, generate statistics with most played songs, rate songs, and grab online artwork, just to name a few suggestions.
