Cocoa Delay

Delay is one of the oldest effects used in modern and contemporary music. Even before analog effect units were produced in the 1970s, the effect was achieved on some songs with the help of tape loops. Naturally, today it’s much easier to add delay to the various instrumental or vocal tracks that make up your production. Sometimes, the effect doesn’t even have to be obvious; just a little bit of delay can add some much-needed ambiance to your mix.

While there is probably no digital audio workstation that doesn’t already have a delay knob integrated into its interface, you may want to use an external plugin if you want more control over the effect and additional features. One example is the free plugin called Cocoa Delay.

With the simple and stylish interface, Cocoa Delay allows you to turn a few knobs and adjust the parameters that will help you find the sound that you’re looking for. The interface is split into three sections. The one on the left has only a Dry knob and a Wet knob, offering you precise control over the amount of delay that goes to your track. The second section controls the timing, allowing you to sync the delay to the tempo, but also to add some low-frequency oscillation. Finally, the third section gives you control over the tone and enables you to control parameters such as feedback, ducking, filter, and drive.
