Neutrino is a compact application developed by Izotope to balance values over the frequency spectrum for vocals, and instruments. It is not a standalone application, as it requires a host application. You gain access to its features after integrating it within a compatible VST host.

The interface is overly minimalistic, providing four modes, two buttons for amount and detail, as well as an on/off switch. When you first load the application, you must authorize its use by adding the serial number provided by the developers after you register on the product website.

Although the plug-in offers four separate modes, you cannot use them simultaneously. Depending on your needs, you can activate the plug-in and fine tune the details for a particular frequency. You can start multiple instances of the application, and balance your mix across vocals, instruments, grave tones, and percussion. However, the number of plug-ins is determined by the host application, which can be extremely limited. You might find yourself in the situation to turn off other plug-ins in favor of Neutrino.

The software is not designed for beginners, as it provides little documentation and the lack of a graphical monitoring window. All modifications are done live, and you must have a trained ear to perceive alterations.

Neutrino can prove to be a useful addition to musicians. It can balance the sound of targetted ranges with ease. Its controls may be simplistic, yet its impact on CPU is lowered thanks to this feature. Nonetheless, this software is designed for professionals.
