Generally speaking, panning is a sound that should be able to emulate the experience of hearing a band performing live, where each instrument is set in a perfect position on the stage. This hard work of a live performance can also be emulated with modern DAWs by positioning the knobs of the specific instruments in their designated space.

PanCake is an intuitive VST plugin that allows you to create flexible pan modulations by reversing the waveform and randomizing the frequencies. The modulation curves can be creating by using soft control points that can be translated into gentle transitions into the waveform. Alternatively, you can consider employing hard control points and get sharp bends that can work equally well. Since the plugin comes with a precise display of channel left and right volume, it provides the much needed visual control to set up your live band.

It is worth mentioning that the plugin can be beat-synced with your DAW, from a dairy 1/128 note modulation for up to 32 bars. At the same time, you can configure it to emit free-running dairy sounds of 0.02 Mz to 5.24 kHz, which is an audible frequency. All the controls are very flexible and can also be triggered via a MIDI device.
