Retro Flanger

Retro Flanger is a simple-to-use Audacity plugin that simulates the flange effect generated by mixing together two identical signals, where one of them has a barely noticeable delay that changes gradually (typically smaller than 20 milliseconds). Before the digital age, this effect was initially produced with the help of two tape decks. 

The Softpedia downloaded package includes a DLL file, and you have to manually integrate it into Audacity by moving this item to the "Plug-Ins" subfolder of the audio player's installed directory. 

In the following step, it's necessary to access the plugin manager, scroll down to the bottom of the list, and enable this effect. From this point on, you can access Retro Flanger from the "Effects" menu. It may be required to restart Audacity to finalize the setup.

While playing an audio track, you can adjust the average stall and flange frequency by moving two sliders or by entering the numerical values. The effects are applied in real time, and it's possible to compare the original and changed sound by toggling the "Enable" option. You can stop playback, or skip forward or backward. Changes will be recorded after clicking the "Apply" button.
