MRA - Music Recognition Application

Having a solution to help you find the name of a playing song is obviously very useful, especially when there’s an instrumental bit whose origin you can’t quite pinpoint. Such a tool is useful all the same for lyrics, too, so having one at the ready is not a bad idea: after all, you don’t know when you’re going to come across that song again.

MRA – Music Recognition Application is one to consider, primarily due to the way in which it marries a modern, intuitive interface with a series of amenities that enhance an already solid music recognition feature.

The app can pick up audio through your microphone and system speaker, meaning that it will be able to identify tunes playing from your computer. I had a good experience in both cases, but it’s worth noting that microphone quality is important if you’re looking to record a song for identification purposes.

As for the accuracy itself, I can say that the app was spot on, save for a few hiccups. Certainly, one part of a song may be more or less recognizable than another, but I’m pretty satisfied with the performance overall.

The music recognition part is well-made, but there are some additional functions that perhaps deserve just as much credit, as they contribute to user experience. Once a song has been recognized, the app will provide a few quick links to relevant streaming platforms where the respective tune may be accessed.

The app also incorporates a Song Preview mode, and you can even download the full track. Adding recognized songs to your library, as well as to your favorites, is also an option. A lyrics feature is likewise available, but I didn’t have much luck with it as the support is rather limited — at least for the stuff I listen to.

MRA – Music Recognition Application is a very easy program to recommend. It works as you would expect, and though the Premium version does contain some additional features, you’re already getting an awful lot with the Free tier.
