Finding all the audio files in a folder is not a difficult task in Windows Explorer, but how about a dedicated file browser that can also show you a file’s attributes? Audio File Browser provides just that, so if you are working with audio files frequently or on a daily basis, then this tool is the one to go with.
Audio File Browser allows you to explore your PC for audio files of all types and see their attributes, all in the same window. It is practically a file explorer that can filter all the audio files in a location and reveal all their general and specific properties.
The application’s main window is well-organized, displaying three separate panels, as described below.
All the frequently used locations are available in the left-side panel. You get one-click access to a list of all the drives, the desktop, and document folders, as well as the libraries folders. In other words, you can open the music, pictures and videos folders with the click of a button.
The next panel includes the list of files, already filtered, to only show you the audio and video files. You can choose between detailed list view, thumbnail mode view and animated thumbnail view. What is interesting is that there is a waveform preview available and a built-in player that can load the song on select. All the common file formats are supported, including MP4, MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, M4A, AIFF, and so on.
The third panel in the main window is dedicated to a file’s attributes. You get to see the general attributes of the selected audio file, such as its name, format, the codec ID, the file size, duration, and the overall bit rate.
Audio File Browser also reveals the audio format, the duration of the last frame, the bit rate, the number of channels and the channel layout, the sampling rate, the frame rate, the compression mode, and a few more details.
From the same panel, you can open a file with one of the three default applications (audio players) that you can configure in the “Settings” window.
Audio File Browser is a handy tool for those who work with audio files a lot, but it might be too much for the regular user. Evidently, it cannot be used for other types of files other than audio, which makes its audience a bit narrow.
