Transcribing audio files can be quite a menial task, especially as it often involves typing the text in one program, and playing the audio in another. It can be a cumbersome process, and it's not at all uncommon to have to transcribe audio: think of transcribing course material from your recordings, for instance.

To help make the process more streamlined, DatasetTranscriber turns everything into a more convenient affair, where users can insert the source folder where they store their audio, allowing them to play the files and start transcribing directly in the interface.

You don't have to go through any installation process or anything of the sort with this app: run the executable, and the program will present itself before you. The interface is simplistic, and you can start using the software to its potential after loading a source folder.

The program will recognize the audio files in your folder and list them all. If you can't recognize their file name, you can play them directly through the app, either by pressing Ctrl in the Transcription field, or clicking directly. Do note that the audio can't be stopped once you play it, which is why operating with shorter files is recommended.

Under the Transcription field, users can type in the text they want to associate with a file. You can type as much as you want. The text automatically saves in the chosen folder as transcription.txt, making it easy to access.

If you're working with a big number of files, the Check Empty Lines feature ensures users haven't missed anything. There's also a delimiter setting, allowing you to change the transcription's delimiter, which appears right after the file's path in the generated .txt file.

DatasetTranscriber is a tool that was designed to make it easier to transcribe your audio files, and to that end, we'd say it does a good job.
