Reduce the volume of certain audio streams using a ducking effect based on various triggers, thus facilitating communication when sound is playing in the background. #Audio Ducker #Fade Audio #Change Volume #Ducker #Volume #Fade
Many of us listen to music, play games or watch videos while chatting with our friends on Discord or Skype, and it can sometimes be difficult to hear what they are saying without increasing the chat volume to unreasonable levels.
Degath's Ducker is a lightweight application that offers a better solution, as it can lower the volume of certain audio streams automatically based on sound triggers. It offers an impressive set of features, but first-time users may find it to be somewhat difficult to configure.
The developer’s goal was to make it so that you will no longer have to pause your music or lower the volume of other sound sources just to understand what your friends are saying while chatting.
Essentially, the program reduces the volume of a certain sound stream to a certain level, with or without fading, and then restores it to its previous value when the audio source set as the trigger falls below a certain sound level.
The initial configuration will be a bit difficult, which is why we recommend that you go through the documentation available online. It is very thorough, so you should have no trouble finding the explanations you need.
When adding a new trigger, the program lists all sound-generating processes and makes it easy to select the right one. If the volume goes past a configured value, ducking will be enabled.
Setting up targets is not at all complicated, as you simply have to define the minimum and maximum volume that should be allowed during and after ducking.
Once you have completed the initial configurations, you can just minimize the application to the system tray and let it handle ducking while running in the background. Tweaks will probably be necessary, but this program can make your life a lot easier if you take the time to set it up correctly.
To sum things up, Degath's Ducker is definitely an application you should try if you frequently listen to audio from other sources while chatting with friends. It may not be the most novice-friendly program out there, but there is extensive documentation available to help you out.
