DisCoverArt

It might have taken a lot of time to get all your music files organized in album folders and, if that is the case, you probably would like to enrich the collection with cover (album) art. Instead of calling to a complex tag and metadata management tool, you could use the DisCoverArt application to search for visuals for your music albums.

It is important to mention from the start that DisCoverArt does not come with a standard user interface, which might be an inconvenience to some. It is a console application for Windows that provides a simple and quick method to download album art and visuals for any artist and any song, based on the specified parameters.

In other words, you have to launch an instance of the Windows console to be able to use DisCoverArt. Then, navigate to the location of the application and, once there, execute the main executable in the Windows console.

DisCoverArt displays a list of all the parameters that it accepts and even displays an example to show you how it works. The first parameters require you to enter the name of the artist and the title of the song. Moving on, you can specify the site to search on. If you only want to rule out a specific site, just type in “all” followed by the sites to exclude.

Additional functions allow you to enter the quote and specify the width and the height of the image to save as album art. The image type can also be chosen from the list of available formats: JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG and SVG. There is an option to limit the number of images to download as well.  Automatic saving options are also available, all to make your job easier.

DisCoverArt is a simple application that can be used standalone, but you can combine it with other music tagging applications. Since it is a console application, programmers can use it to create batch scripts, for instance.
