It has only handful of options and comes in handy for creating audio books from ebooks, presentations or other types of written documentation.

During installation, the program offers to download and install additional, non-essential tools, which can be declined if you carefully proceed with the wizard steps. However, .NET Framework must be installed to get it up and running.

When it comes to the interface, Free Text To Wav Converter has a single window that doesn't put emphasis on graphical elements and reveals all options and customization properties available.

The text can be typed or pasted from the Clipboard in the large panel before saving it to an audio file with the WAV format by specifying the output directory and file name. It's possible to increase or decrease the speech rate and volume level.

On the other hand, performing these tasks is tricky because the application doesn't have a built-in text-to-speech tool. The spoken words can be heard only after saving the file and loading it in an external audio player. This might put off a lot of users because it means possibly going back and forth a lot of time before hitting the right speech rate and volume level.

On top of that, the utility doesn't implement a feature for loading text from external files, making it necessary to take extra steps to copy and paste text from a file to the control panel.

It worked smoothly in our evaluation, generated audio files fast, and remained stable throughout its runtime. However, Free Text To Wav Converter has a rather modest set of options under its hood, and the biggest downside is the lack of an integrated text-to-speech tool that permits you to easily make adjustments before generating audio files.
