Grat Folio

Learning music is not just practicing a specific instrument until you can play by heart. Theory is an important part, with neat representations of notes which are not difficult to master. In this regard, Grat Folio wants to help you organize your collection of guitar tabs in a cool environment with an impressive variety of customization options.

In order to fully enjoy what the application has to offer, you first need to make sure your computer is fitted with .NET Framework, even though it comes in the default feature set in modern Windows iterations. As far as the visual design is concerned, the interface is split in half, holding an interactive preview area, and a browser window for objects you work with.

The application can only read files created with its own set of features, so there’s little chance you have a sample at hand. You can work on multiple projects at a time, each one kept active in an individual tab for quick access.

Creating a new project can feel a little confusing at first, but it’s incredibly easy to get the hang of. Objects represented by preset chords and tabs need to be dragged over the main canvas. You’re free to move them anywhere you see fit. It could have used an option to add gridlines to make arrangement easier.

There are no preset songs to work with, but the application does provide all known chords, which count as a lot. These can be edited, and you can even insert empty tablatures to manually define notes for your own songs. There’s the option to include text strings as well. Sadly, there are no options to export under common formats, or at least a picture.

All things considered, Grat Folio is a handy application which is sure to help you organize your custom song collection in tablatures. Even though there are no presets, writing your own songs is incredibly easy thanks to the intuitive design and method of configuring tablatures.
