Id3ToFolder

Id3ToFolder is a tiny and portable tool that gives you the possibility to sort your music using ID3 tag information. This comes in handy for creating musical collections to copy to iPods or MP3 players, for example.

Since there's no setup implied, you can store the downloaded files in any folder on the HDD or on a removable storage device to directly launch the application on any computer without installing anything first. It doesn't add new entries to the Windows registry, so it doesn't increase the risk of OS stability issues.

It's wrapped in a plain-looking interface. The primary window has a simple structure and two panes for the folder and filename preferences, inviting you to begin by populating the task list with files. The supported extensions are MP3, WMA and OGG. Directories with albums may be indicated too.

Id3ToFolder is capable of creating new directories for the artist, album, genre or year, along with subdirectories. It's possible to define the album folder's format when it comes to the artist, album, bit rate, genre, year and comment, as well as to specify the destination folder and prevent the tool from deleting the source files on task completion.

The new file names may be the same as the original ones, or changed into anything else by defining a pattern involving the artist, album, bit rate, year, comment, track number, or genre. Apart from the fact that you can clear the task list and switch to another GUI language, there are no other notable settings provided by this utility.
