MISST or Music/Instrumental Steam Separation Tool is an application that enables you to split different parts of a music track, namely vocals, instruments, bass and drums.

The application doesn’t require installation or configuration, so launch, add your track and you can start processing. The interface is sleek, stylish and user-friendly, so you are unlikely to have any issues navigating, irrespective of your experience with similar tools.

Extracting the stems can be done in by importing your song from either the local storage or via one of the streaming platforms. The app supports imports from YouTube, Deezer, Spotify and SoundCloud. All your imported tracks will be visible in the main window, on the right side panel to be more precise.

The main window enables you to specify which stems you want to extract, so you can select the ones you need for your project. It is worth mentioning that the tool can also be used as an audio player, so you can listen to the track while processing it.

If the track is imported from your library, then it will also include all the metadata and lyrics. Moreover, you can access the Equalizer tool - from the lower left side - and toy around with audio files while listening.

The developer mentions that you need to have CUDA installed and enabled, if you want to take advantage of GPU acceleration. While it may not be necessary for regular, short tracks, you may want to look into it when working with larger files, as the processing can be lengthy.
