Finding new music is easier than ever these days, and staying up to date with the latest tunes from your favorite artists is just as simple. If you use music streaming solutions, then all the better as much of this is built-in, so there’s little to no need for you to venture elsewhere.

If you’re looking for a desktop program to help keep you up to date with the latest releases from your loved artists, then MusicReleaseTracker should make for a good option to consider. It’s a scraper that uses multiple online music databases to look for any new releases.

It may be easier now to see what your favorite artists are up to, but tracking everything manually has its downsides, most of which are related to the amount of time and work it requires you to put in. A solution that collates multiple music databases and automatically scrapes them for new releases for the chosen artists thus starts to make sense.

It’s not like using a dedicated program is that difficult either. To add your artists, you’ll just have to input their name and a few links to their pages on the corresponding databases, of which Beatport, MusicBrainz, and Juno Download are the supported ones.

Once you’ve got a few of your favorite artists added, clicking the Refresh button will synchronize the program with the databases and return the newest entries to their discographies. Note that you can apply exclusion filters to remove remixes, remastered, and other such variations of already existing songs.

Though rather simple, I found MusicReleaseTracker to be rather effective at what it does. If there’s something to suggest, it’s that it would be nice to have it automatically recognize an artist and their corresponding source link to the available databases. Otherwise, the program works well.
