Padlock

As the developer puts it in an ironic/funny way, Padlock, a set of very basic media controls for desktop Spotify users, isn't the most creative of ideas, yet its useful, helpful even, to those who'd like to quickly execute certain specific actions while using the app. If you're looking for something highly customizable, flexible, and user-friendly, stop right here. This app isn't for you.

The application doesn't really include an interface. It runs silently, and as far as turning it off is concerned, you'll have to use the Task Manager or CMD to do it. In many ways, one can see there is room for improvement.

At the same time, you do come to realize that what is given is indeed sufficient for the simple tasks of going forward and backward through a song list. The app consists of three specific keybindings for three particular actions. That's about it. No info, no bothersome notifications, no other annoyances.

This program, as stated earlier, is basically made up of three particular commands. The first will skip a song forward. You can achieve this by using the CTRL+ALT+LEFT buttons. If you change the LEFT to a RIGHT in the earlier equation, you'll be able to go back one track. Finally, CTRL+ALT+SPACE will pause/play your selection. In terms of functionality, it is brilliant.

Just make sure you unpack the files and your EXE and DLL components are all in the same directory. If you unpack the contents of the app under shell:startup, you can make the app auto-run on startup. The bindings can't be changed, so you're stuck with them unless you know how to code.

Padlock is a very simple application. It lacks almost all features except for functionality. You can either use it to make your desktop Spotify experience easier or as a starting point or model for a similar, more complex project.
