With the help of specialized computer applications music, regardless of genre, can be created using the keyboard and mouse from the comfort of your desktop. Packed in an intuitive interface, JamDeck promises to offer you the chance to create a song easily and in the blink of an eye.

Before you start unleashing your imagination to get the right sound, you are able to select over 30 beats to play in the background to support you while recording. Tempo can be set for the selected beat, depending on the style you are interested in.

When you are happy with the selection, the workspace is brought up, with visible recordings in the middle and a keyboard in the bottom. By default you start off with a piano sound, but the instrument you want to record can be changed anytime. These are arranged in categories which include acoustic, bass, drum kits and not limited to piano as well as synth effects.

You are free to try out any instrument as long as you want to get familiar with sounds or until an idea comes up. Unless you hit the “Record” button, progress is only tracked in your mind. A bar is filled as you play along, each sound leaving a different color trace effect.

To end the recording session you press “Copy” and the result is displayed in the center of the main window. Multiple recordings can be added if you want to include more instruments. Unfortunately, you are only able to mute sounds, with no implemented slider to adjust the volume for each audio layer.

In case the preset beats offered by the application don't suffice, you are able to create your own. A “Freestyle Recorder” tool gives you the possibility to simply play along with any desired instrument without having to worry that the session is not being captured. When the function detects sound it automatically triggers the recorder and whenever it encounters a pause it saves the current jam session.

To sum it up, JamDeck is a powerful, yet easy to use application for creating music. The ability to play from your keyboard and large variety of instruments make it worth every second of the time spent jamming.
