Songtrip is a neat program that lets you create playlists in a jiffy by hand or mood. Indeed, this app uses track metadata in combination with a mood-detecting algorithm in order to build playlists that could fit your emotions.

Songtrip uses your music folders to create new playlists. It's not a downloader, so don't count on that, have your folders ready. Launch the app, add your music. Once scanned, all tracks will be comprised within a list, located on the left side of the UI.

Clicking on any song will automatically generate a playlist with related tracks, chosen on the basis of metadata. This would be the default by song method creation.

Mixing some songs that share similar metadata in a playlist is not rocket science, but a basic function of such applications. What Songtrip does by including the mood options is thinking a bit out of the box, but the accuracy of the whole thing is questionable.

If you decide to create a playlist by mood, you'll be met with two questions about your levels of happiness and anger, on a scale of 0 to 10. Your answers will then generate a playlist. While it might seem a bit gimmicky, there appears to be a sort of algorithm behind this feature — an algorithm you would get access to if you go through the paywall.

Songtrip is dependable playlist creation, even if you are not interested in the mood function. It would come in very handy for individuals with hefty, unorganized music folders, as it helps with, let's say, randomizing things up.
