String

String is a musical instrument, a virtual one of course — an ensemble synth capable of emulating the appreciated sound of the polyphonic string synthesizer. The authentic tone Sting provides comes from the 70s synthesizers, an instrument known for the divide-down oscillator tech.

Two separate sound-generating layers are taking much of the UI space. Layer 1 and Layer 2 share some similarities, yet they are fairly different. While each section host three identical phase-locked oscillator stops, their ranges are not mirrored.

Voicing modes are also a shared feature, but there's more variety here. The user should be able to work with modes like Monophonic, Paraphonic, and Polyphonic. Each mode influences the voice's behavior and amplitude envelope.

Using filters would further help with layer customization. A pair of Highpass / Lowpass filters enrich each segment. A resonance button is also included, as well as a 9-Band EQ filter.

For those knowledgeable with MIDI devices, String provides a swift method of mapping every button from within the UI to a hardware controller.
