There aren’t a lot of people who like working in complete silence, but listening to music can prevent you from staying focused. There is an alternative, however, in the form of a sound mixer that can help you create your own relaxing background soundtrack.

Ambiance is a Windows 10 app that can be installed on both desktop and mobile devices, and it enables you to combine numerous ambient sounds, which help you relax and, perhaps, even increase your productivity.

At present, there are more than thirty sounds to choose from when creating your presets, so you can really let your imagination go wild. There are numerous possible combinations, especially if you also play around with the volume sliders.

For instance, you can listen to the calming sound of rain, a powerful thunderstorm, a moving train, leaves, wolves, wind, a calm fireplace, a coffee shop or even a purring cat. Check out the screenshots or, better yet, install the app to see what it has to offer.

Once you have created the perfect sound mix, you can save it and then access it at any time in the Favorites tab. The next time you want to enjoy it, it only takes a single mouse click to play the mix again.

Of course, Ambiance can also be useful if you have trouble going to sleep at night. You can just start the ambient mix you have selected and enable the timer to have the app stop playback after a certain number of minutes. A fade out effect can also be inserted after some time.

When taking everything into consideration, Ambiance is a great alternative to the many web-based noise generators that have become very popular as of late. It works even when you are offline, comes with a large collection of sounds and features a minimalistic yet stylish user interface.
