VOVSOFT - Screen Reader

People with visual impairments or blindness have trouble using the computer and cannot benefit from all the advantages a PC has to offer. VOVSOFT - Screen Reader is a text-to-speech application with zoom capabilities specifically designed to make it easier for such users to interact with Windows applications.

What VOVSOFT - Screen Reader actually does is follow the mouse cursor and read the text under it out loud. Thus, when interacting with any opened window or applications, other senses can be used to click wherever needed.

The application comes in two flavors: an installer-based one and a portable one. While identical in terms of functionality, the latter does not leave traces in the system’s registry and allows you to run it on the go, directly from a removable USB drive, for instance. To put it another way, you can take VOVSOFT - Screen Reader with you wherever you go and run it on any computer to benefit from the same features regardless of the computer you want to use.

Considering its purpose, it is only normal for the developers of VOVSOFT - Screen Reader to have created an application that focuses on simplicity. Its main window allows you to select the speech engine from the list of available voices installed in Windows.  You can adjust the speech speed using the dedicated slider.

The lower part of the window allows you to configure the zoom functionality of the application. VOVSOFT - Screen Reader features zoom levels from 2x to 8x, displaying the zoomed section around the mouse cursor. Both the zoom feature and the read aloud function can be disabled or re-enabled whenever you want.

There is no doubt that a desktop magnifier and a text-to-speech tool can be of help for blind or visually impaired people. VOVSOFT - Screen Reader brings them together into a single application that is both simple and easy to use.
