Trust Me Tagger

Audio files come packed with more info than just the sound layer which interests you the most. Known as ID tags, these are sets of details which display artist, title, producer, album, and more. Although these can be edited through Windows default features, relying on applications like Trust Me Tagger gets the job done a lot faster.

First of all, the application is good to go from the moment download is done, because it’s not packed inside an installer. Moreover, this makes it possible to carry it around on a thumb drive as your personal tag editor, but you need to be sure that the target PC is fitted with .NET Framework for all to go well.

In terms of visual design, the application keeps things simple, with a large list to show work items along with details to be inserted, and upper toolbar with log and load tools, as well as the lower section which lets you set exactly the variables to be edited. Note that original files are processed, and there’s no turning back.

Input is done by selecting a folder of choice, but subdirectories are not included, and there’s no option to do this. Sadly, you need to either manually write the path or paste it in the path field, because there’s no browse dialog, and dropping items or the source folder over the window has no effect here.

You can choose to fill artist, album, title, and track tags, and overwrite corresponding non empty tags. Sadly, there’s no manual option of editing tags, and the way the application fills them is by reading names, and not the actual file tags. This means that your files need to be already organized in folders for the operation to properly reach an end.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Trust Me Tagger comes with good intentions, but it’s merely a method of filling up missing tags to an already organized music collection.
