AnimGifViewer

AnimGifViewer is an easy-to-use program that enables you to load and play GIF animations step by step in a simple environment. It contains just a basic set of options that can be tackled even by inexperienced users.

Before proceeding any further, you should know that it hasn't received updates for a long time, and we've experienced compatibility issues with later Windows editions in our tests.

The setup operation takes minimal time and effort, thanks to the fact that it doesn't have unfamiliar options, software requirements, or third-party components bundled.

When it comes to the interface, AnimGifViewer has a standard window with a plain-looking design and minimalistic structure, where you can resort to the file browser or drag-and-drop support to locate and open a GIF animation to preview it in this frame.

It's possible to use two buttons or the mouse wheel to view the previous and next frame of the animation, start and stop the playback, as well as extract the current frame and save to a GIF, BMP, JPG or PNG image by specifying the output directory, filename, and format. There are no other noteworthy settings available.

It didn't put a strain on the overall performance of the machine in our tests, thanks to the fact that it needed low CPU and memory to work properly. However, it features a light set of options and doesn't make room for customization.

Unfortunately, AnimGifViewer hasn't been updated for a long time and has compatibility problems with newer Windows models. Nevertheless, you can still use it on older OSes if you're looking for a straightforward GIF viewer that lets you extract frames to save as images.
